Well here it is! My first ever expedition as an international wedding photographer! (That does have a good ring to it doesn’t it.)
Way back in October 2016 I have the very great pleasure of being a wedding photographer in France for my lovely friends Lucy and Dan.
This being my first outing as a France wedding photographer, I was very excited, if a little apprehensive about the impending trip.
It all started with a bleary eyed 6am journey on the Eurostar (which is fantastic) all the way to Avignon to our onward journey to Provence.
Even though I was only officially shooting their Provence wedding for one day, I got the opportunity to spend a long weekend there which was wonderful as I got to feel a party of a small family for one very unique weekend! As such, I was invited to sit and eat and dance and drink with the lovely guests and gorgeous couple.
Lucy and Dan were officially married previously at a register office, so the day was a bit backwards to the norm as I shot the bride and groom wedding portraits first and the blessing (ceremony) followed afterwards.
The weather was absolutely glorious for an autumn day and we all gathered in a hotel garden waiting for Lucy to be walked down with her dad. We had some stunning views to admire whilst we waiting.
After the drinks reception, we made our way down to a local restaurant and the food was out of this world! The guests ate and ate and drank and drank and laughed and laughed. There were some very funny stories told by the best man, the groom’s brother!
The guests danced and sang the night away and the music was courtesy of my sister Eleanor – who is brilliant!
I was very lucky to be a wedding photographer in such a beautiful location, in a beautiful venue, with beautiful people.
Enough words, have a look and enjoy my personal favourites from my first trip as a destination wedding photographer!
