Two weddings in one day! Hannah and Charles had not one, but two weddings on their big day! The first was a traditional Hindu celebration with their own hindu priest, and the second, a traditional church wedding. The hindu ceremony and reception were held at the Vine Hotel, which as a wedding photographer in Skegness, I’d never shot at before so was looking forward to it. I was particularly excited about photographing a hindu wedding, as I knew that it would be fun and full of colour.
It was a very early start for me as I met the girls for round one of the bridal prep at the Vine Hotel, where the first thing I noticed was Hannah’s beautiful hennaed hands, which can be seen in the photos below. Hannah looked stunning in her colourful, yet traditional, hindu dress and I could tell she was excited waiting for the day to begin.
Another traditional part of the hindu wedding is for the guests to greet the groom outside as he arrives. The priest then says a few words to him as he prepares to enter the venue.
As this was my first time as a hindu wedding photographer in Lincolnshire, I learnt a lot of new stuff on the day. The ceremony is held under what is called a “mandap” and apparently they can go on for hours! Charles sat at the front under the mandap and was hidden behind a sheet as Hannah approached. What a brilliant moment and the smile on his face when he saw her said it all.
Once this part of the day was complete, I took the bride and groom for a few photos of them together in their traditional gear and, before long, it was time to get ready for round two!
Round two was the “traditional” part of the day, and the part I knew very well. The ceremony in the church consisted of: rain, wind, smiles, laughter, signatures and lots of confetti.
Once the guests had all arrived back at the Vine Hotel, it was time for the group shots, which went smoothly. Then it was time for the party!
I got fed very well, the speeches were funny and touching, and the band was awesome! I left the fun just as the party was getting going and the guests were dancing the night away.
I had brilliant day, especially getting the chance to be a hindu wedding photographer in Skegness. Congratulations Hannah and Charles, I wish you all the best for the future.
As always, please do feel free to leave a lovely message for the happy couple.
