Well this was a first for me! My first ever same sex marriage and my first time as a civil partnership photographer, and it was a blast! Hannah and Kasia got married at The Charlotte House Hotel in Lincoln – a Lincoln wedding venue I know very well and always enjoy shooting there.
Nothing about this wedding was “traditional”, for example, Hannah and Kasia got ready together and walked down the aisle together – it was a lovely refreshing change. Even the ceremony room was beautifully decorated with colourful lantern lamp shades – it worked really well.
The ceremony itself was lovely with a few unexpected tears from Kasia herself but lots of laughing too, which is always important.
After the confetti, I had the chance to take the couple around the small, but lovely and rather hot arboretum in the grounds near the hotel, again, something out of the ordinary.
What made this day extra special was how so happy and laid back everybody was, and how everyone just wanted to have a good time, not a single “issue” to be seen.
Finally, at the end of my day at Hannah and Kasia’s Charlotte House wedding, something different again – a ceilidh – or a traditional Scottish dance. No traditional first dance for these two, just a lot of people having a lot of fun instead!
I really do hope I get to be a civil partnership photographer again because they are a jolly good jaunt!
As always, here are some of my favourites from the day, and if you like what you see, please leave a comment as I would love to hear your thoughts.
