I am a very lucky man as I get to be a Lincolnshire wedding photographer for many lovely couples, but it was an extra special privilege to be asked by this couple to photographer their wedding. I have known Gemma and Chris (or Weebs as he is better known to his friends) personally for a while, so it was my absolute pleasure to be their Louth wedding photographer.
They got married at St Mary’s Church in Manby and had their reception in a marquee in their friend’s back garden – it was a fantastic venue! The day started with me meeting up with the girls in the hotel room they had booked out, to capture the final parts of the bridal preparations. Everyone was happy and excited and in a really good mood – as you’d expect really but with no stressing at all, it was great.
Once I’d captured what I needed and Gemma had got into her dress, it was then off to the church to catch up with the groom. It was great to see him all dressed up in his suit and you could tell he was very proud of his role that he was playing and could see that he was genuinely very excited about marrying Gemma. The (very hot) church was packed out with all their friends and family and it was a gorgeous ceremony with lovely readings and blessings.
The next part of the day was great because the bride, the videographer and I all knew about it but Chris didn’t! Gemma had arranged for a stunt plane fly by over a field just down the road. You can see a shot below – it was fantastic! Once this was over we made our way to the reception.
It was a brilliantly thought out day, the marquee was superb, they had arranged circus games for the guests and bubbles for the children. There was also a performance from a local band outside in the field. Plenty of entertainment for everyone – it was great to see. After we had all eaten the fantastic food (again, very well thought out), it was time for the speeches and they did not disappoint. They were all great but, I for one, was looking forward to hearing Ben, his best man, deliver his speech. It was top stuff, but what I was not expecting was how he made everyone cry at the end. Well played sir! The other surprise for me was Keith, Chris’s dad, who was completely dead pan and very funny!
Because I knew the couple they very kindly said I was welcome to stay and join in the celebrations and listen to the band they had booked. How could I refuse? I was a damn good day and I took WAAAY more photos than I should have. Oh well they are worth it! Congratulations you two and all the best for your future together.
Below are some of my favourites from the day and if you like what you see, I would be grateful if you could comment below.
