I met Dee and Charles a while ago after they got in touch via a mutual friend and asked if I could be their photographer for their Nottingham wedding. I was very glad that they did ask me because it was an absolute blast!
My day started with something different from the ordinary; clay pigeon shooting. This was the first time I’d ever really seen it in action and I was very impressed by how accurate they all were – I could never have done that well! The rain was lashing down but it certainly didn’t dampen the lads spirits!
From there it was a drive to Dee and Charles’ house for the bridal preparations. One thing I must say about Dee is she is one of the smiliest brides I have ever had the pleasure to photograph, she just smiled and laughed all day long and she was very excited about the day ahead when I arrived. But, also, I managed to capture a few tears too – when she walked downstairs and her dad Pete saw her for the first time, it was a very touching moment.
The ceremony! Well what can I say about the ceremony? It was full of emotion and full of people! I have never before seen such a packed out church in all my years of being a wedding photographer – it was completely chokka and it just proved how popular a couple these two are.
I had known for a good while about their plans for the reception, a marquee in a field somewhere in the middle of the countryside, but I certainly was not expecting the spectacular views – it was stunning and I could completely see why they chose it.
The weather was the only thing that didn’t go to plan on the day, however, luck so had it that the sun came out at just the right time and I managed to get the entire guest party outside for the group shots. It even stayed dry for the bride and groom portraits and again I am very grateful for their cooperation to produce these photos – it was certainly worth it! A big shout out must go to their lovely friend Hannah who was without warning, my assistant for a short time, so, thank you Hannah.
The speeches were perfect with some very moving words from Pete and plenty of mickey-taking from the best man, Charles’s brother and there was also time for a game of heads and tails at the end.
They partied hard into the night and didn’t get a chance to do there first dance until after 10pm – they were having such a good time!
Thank you Dee and Charles for letting me be part of your wonderful Nottinghamshire wedding, I had a great day!
